Tour Description

This is a classic private tour capturing the essence of Suzhou City. You will be picked up from your hotel in Suzhou where a private van is on hand to drive you to visit the Grand Canal first. The oldest and longest man-made waterway in the world, the Suzhou section of the Grand Canal is blessed with stunning natural scenery dotted with ancient villages. Cruising down the canal for about 40 minutes provides a good opportunity to see local daily life. Move on to Pan Gate, the last city gate with water and land entrances that is still preserved in China. Your visit here includes a stroll through the old city dating back to the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368). Continue on to wander around the Lingering Garden after lunch. Suzhou is widely known for its many classical gardens and Lingering Garden is one of the most famous. Though it is small, it contains every element of a typical Suzhou garden and is very elegant. You will also make a short stop at a silk factory to see silk being made in the same way as it has been for hundreds of years in Suzhou. Finally your guide will transfer you back to your hotel by private car.
