Terms And Conditions

Using the shanghaihighlights.com website indicates that you have read and agree to the following terms and conditions.

Content Overview

1. Payment

Shanghai Highlights provides clear details about the expected payment on a booking, including Deposit & Final payment - ways to pay: PayPal, credit cards, Alipay, WeChat Pay, and bank wire transfer.

Deposit & Final payment

A deposit that is equal to 10% of the total tour cost is required at the time of booking with us. The final payment is required 30 days before departure for your tour.

Should the tour be booked within 30 days before departure for your tour, full payment is required.

Receipt of your deposit or final payment will indicate that you and your travel agent (when applicable) have read these Terms and Conditions, and that you (and your agent) have accepted them.

The Terms and Conditions below form the basis of the contractual relationship between China Highlights International Travel Service Co., Ltd (Business Certificate Number: L-GX00724) and its clients. It is extremely important that our clients understand and accept these Terms and Conditions, as well as their quotations, itineraries, and other relevant communication from our travel advisors.

Methods of Payment

We are now able to offer 4 methods of Payment:

Cash payment and company checks are applicable upon special request, but personal checks cannot be accepted.

Disclaimer of Difference Caused by Exchange Rate

(For clients who make payment by credit card only).

Shanghai Highlights will draw Chinese currency (CNY) from your credit card. The Credit Card Company or Bank will convert this amount to the currency of your credit card account.

Shanghai Highlights converts Chinese currency to US Dollars at a rate of CN700 = US$100 for our quotations, but must charge your credit card in CNY (Note: Shanghai Highlights will apply the latest exchange rate, which may differ from the one shown above.). Banks and credit card companies must then buy Chinese currency at their local rate to make the payment. The rate may be more or less than our rate. Banks and credit card companies may also make a service charge for the transaction. For these reasons, what appears on your bank statement may be more (or even less) than what you were expecting.

2. Cancellation

We deeply regret to learn of your decision to cancel your trip. We understand that various circumstances can lead to such a choice.

Please note the following cancellation penalties, which are determined based on the number of days between the date we receive your written cancellation notice and your scheduled departure date.

Cancellation Policy for Multiple City Tours (including Yangtze River Cruises)

Furthermore, we are unable to offer refunds for any unused services once the trip has commenced, regardless of the reason, including your unwillingness or inability to participate, early departure, late arrival, or missed tour days.

Cancellation Policy for Single City Tours

We cannot provide refunds for unused services after the trip has commenced, regardless of your unwillingness or inability to participate, early departure, late arrival, or missed days on the tour.

Special Notes:

The terms for cancellation for tours of more than 10 people may vary from case to case. Please ask your travel advisor regarding the cancellation policy for a group of over 10 people.

Cancellation Policy for Attractions/Show Ticket Booking

If a confirmed ticket is non-transferable and non-refundable, even in cases of inclement weather.

3. Alteration of Itinerary

1. Shanghai Highlights provides you with tailor-made itineraries. Occasionally, these can be adjusted to meet your demands. We can adjust your itinerary for free if you change to alternatives of equal standard and quality.

2. Please note that otherwise, any extra payments caused by your changes will be added, including extra fares and ticket prices.

3. If you want to make a big change in your itinerary involving train or air tickets, you should first discuss it with your travel advisor. Any additional fees will depend on the dates you are traveling.

4. Travel Documentation

All clients must be in possession of a valid passport and necessary visas or permits at the commencement of travel. All such documentation is the sole responsibility of the client. Your travel advisor may assist you in applying for the necessary travel documentation upon request. Shanghai Highlights accepts no responsibility or liability whatsoever for the failure of clients to obtain appropriate documentation.

After receiving your payment, we’ll send a link for you to fill in your passport. YOU MUST CHECK the passport information you supply and make sure it is correct. Otherwise, you may not be issued your tickets and may incur extra fees. In that case, you will be solely responsible.

5. Health Requirements

Clients should take into account all international travel risks and familiarize themselves with health requirements applicable to the areas they intend to visit. The client is solely responsible for checking the safety and security conditions, vaccination, and other health requirements of governments in countries visited or transited. Travelers to Tibet are required to provide a doctor's certificate stating that the he/she is fit to travel and his/her blood pressure and heart condition are normal. This is a requirement because of the possible effects that the very high altitude may have on certain people.

6. Luggage Allowance

In accordance with regulations of the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China, the free baggage allowance within China is 20kg for the economy class, 30kg for the business class, and 40kg for the first class, plus limited carry-on luggage. Excess baggage charges are the sole responsibility of the client. Regulations within China specify that all suitcases must have a locking device attached. Failure to follow this regulation may result in refusal by airport staff to load suitcases onto the aircraft.

7. Insurance

Shanghai Highlights' tour packages include Tourist Accident/Casualty Insurance up to a maximum of $30,000 per adult, provided free of charge as part of our package. We still highly recommend that you purchase full coverage travel insurance from your country of origin.
